Aztec Fantasy of Lights, Inc. (FOL) is announcing the availability of service project grants for local groups/clubs/organizations and their members through the Youth Opportunities Grant.  Monies are available for local groups/clubs/organizations and members to develop volunteer community-service projects or to attend events of educational benefit.  An exception will be allowed for an individual not associated with a group/club/organization to apply giving consideration to time spent volunteering with FOL.  In such case, parents, counselors or mentors may act as sponsor/leader.

Applications are to be submitted to Aztec Fantasy of Lights Youth Opportunities Grant and will be reviewed and selected by representatives of the FOL board whose decision is final.  We will be looking for projects that:
 

  • Are planned, developed, and implemented by a local group/club/organization or members of such with adults serving as advisors and/or facilitators (individual applicant exception applies)
  • Allow the group/club/organization to identify a local need
  • Creatively use members’ skills and energy to design a project around that need
  • Provide a variety of roles and responsibilities for members to perform
  • Target areas that have the most critical need, both programmatically and geographically
  • Will provide educational benefit and/or leadership training.


Information / Criteria for applicant:

  • Recipient must have volunteered with FOL and other community service related programs
  • Groups/club/organizations or individuals may apply numerous times; however, they may receive only one grant per 12 months
  • Rcipients are asked to give a presentation of their “program/project” at a FOL board meeting
  • Application must be complete (most answers will not disqualify your request)
  • Funds must be used by locals for locals – local need-related project, educational benefit or leadership training
  • Qualified applicants will share allocated quarterly grant fund amount (please indicate date and amount needed)
  • We reserve the right to prioritize according to date funds are needed
  • Recipients must be 18 years old or under


Applications may be rejected for any or all of the following reasons:

  • Age
  • Incomplete application 
  • Grant awarded to same group/club/organization or individual within the past 12 months
  • No verifiable FOL volunteer hours
  • False information
  • Duplicate application (already awarded for exact same project/program/need)
  • If a group disbursement has been made, individual requests for similar purpose will no be considered with 12 months of original award.


Guidelines for application for Youth Opportunities Grant include, but are not limited to:

  • Community improvement projects (public or private)
  • Equipment (purchase or rental)
  • Educational opportunities
  • Camps, trainings, competitions, etc.

Deadline for submission for the current disbursement is the last day of the month prior to award which is quarterly in the months of February, May, August, & November.  Therefore, applications must be postmarked, faxed or hand-delivered using the information provided below by January 31st, April 30th, July 31st, or October 31st.
